Water
Based Metal Coatings
Van Technologies offers a line of waterborne coatings that adhere to and protect a number
of metals including aluminum, steel, iron, etc. The
Direct To
Metal line of coatings are designed and
tested to promote excellent adhesion to metal surfaces.
This line of coatings is designed for protection only seen previously with
traditional solvent based coatings. Both the VanKyd and VanAqua DTM series coatings can
be color matched to fit any industrial need. They
are very durable, easy to apply, environmentally friendly, and work very well in a variety
of industrial settings. Modifications of each
coating can be made to provide a better fit for customized application needs.
Here are the Water Based Metal Coatings available at
Van Technologies:
VanKyd DTM Primer
The VanKyd
DTM Primer is ideal for the maximum protection of metal surfaces against the effects
of corrosion. It is a waterborne epoxy
composition and displays exceptional hide and adhesion to clean metal surfaces. The cured film is hard and flexible. VanKyd DTM
Primer provides an effective barrier against corrosive environments for ferrous and
non-ferrous fabrications and industrial components. VanKyd DTM Primer should be applied to metal
surfaces that are clean, dry, free of rust, oil and mill scale. Surfaces will be dry to the touch after 45 minutes
and with adequate ventilation, will be through cured after 24 hours. Application of the VanKyd DTM Primer can be by airless spray, or dip
coating.
VanKyd DTM Topcoat
VanKyd DTM Topcoat is a decorative waterborne
corrosion preventative coating. It displays
exceptional hide and adhesion to clean metal surfaces.
The cured film is hard and flexible. VanKyd DTM Topcoat provides an effective barrier
against corrosive environments for ferrous and non-ferrous fabrications and industrial
components. It can be manufactured in a number
of gloss levels and colors to match nearly any application requirements. VanKyd DTM Topcoat should be applied to metal
surfaces that are clean, dry, free of rust, oil and mill scale. Surfaces will be dry to the touch after 45 minutes
and with adequate ventilation, will be through cured after 24 hours. Application of the VanKyd DTM Topcoat can be by airless spray, or dip
coating.
VanAqua Red Acrylic Topcoat
VanAqua Red Acrylic Topcoat is a water based
corrosion preventative, acrylic coating. It
displays exceptional hide and adhesion to most clean metal surfaces. VanAqua Red Acrylic Topcoat provides an effective
barrier against corrosive environments for ferrous and non-ferrous metals when first, VanKyd DTM Primer is applied on clean, dry, free
of rust, oil and mill scale surfaces. VanAqua Red Acrylic Topcoat may be dry to the
touch within 15 minutes at normal room temperature! The
primer and topcoat should be through cured, with adequate ventilation, after 24 hours. VanAqua Red
Acrylic Topcoat can be applied using an HVLP, airless, or conventional spray
equipment. Other applications may also be
used.
VanAqua-780 Black
The VanAqua-780 Black is a gloss black, thermoset
acrylic water based coating. It displays
exceptional density and adhesion to most clean metal surfaces with good corrosion and
weathering resistance, and excellent flash rust resistance on carbon steel surfaces. Although designed for high speed roll coating, it
has been successfully applied by spray coatings and other methods of application may also
be used. VanAqua-780 Black should be dried at
temperatures between ambient and 200° F and cured at temperatures above 325° F. Typical processes use progressively increased
temperatures to facilitate a smooth transition from drying to curing. Exceptionally rapid drying is possible, but is
dependent on the type of heat source and air circulation used. VanAqua-780 Black can be
manufactured in a number of different colors.
VanAqua-781 White
The VanAqua-781 White is a decorative matte white,
thermoset acrylic water based coating. It
displays exceptional hide and adhesion to clean metal surfaces with good UV and metal
marking resistance, moderate corrosion resistnace, and excellent flash rust resistance on
carbon steel surfaces. Although designed for
high speed roll coating, it has been successfully applied by spray coating and other
methods of application may also be used. VanAqua-781 White should be dried at temperatures
between ambient and 200° F and cured at temperatures above 325° F. Typical processes use
progressively increased temperatures to facilitate a smooth transition from drying to
curing. Exceptionally rapid drying is possible, due to the high solid content, but is
dependent on the type of heat source used. VanAqua-781 White can also be manufactured in a
number of different colors.
VanAqua-782 DTM Topcoat
VanAqua-782 DTM Topcoat is a water based acrylic
direct to metal coating. It exhibits a fast
dry rate and is typically tack free within 30 minutes, to an hour after coating
application, depending on thickness and drying conditions.
The final coating exhibits a high gloss finish and displays exceptional
adhesion to most clean metal surfaces with good flash rust resistance on carbon steel
surfaces. Although designed for spray
application, other methods of application may also be used.
VanAqua-782 exhibits excellent corrosion resistance for
single coat applications. this coating passes
500 hours in corrosion testing on phosphatized Q-Panels with no evidence of coating
degradation. Further testing is needed to
verify the results obtained and to determine the maximum number of hours the coating will
tolerate. VanAqua-782 should be dried at temperatures
between ambient and 200° F and cured at temperatures above 325° F. Typical processes use progressively increased
temperatures to facilitate a smooth drying transition thus permitting best film formation
and uniformity. Exceptionally rapid drying is
possible, but is dependent on the type of heat source and air circulation used.
VanAqua-783 DTM Topcoat
VanAqua-783 DTM Topcoat is a clear, thermoplastic acrylic water based
coating. It displays exceptional adhesion to
most clean metal surfaces with good flash rust resistance on carbon steel surfaces. Although designed for dip coating, it has been
successfully applied by spray coating and other methods of application may also be used. VanAqua-783
should be dried at temperatures between ambient and 200° F and can be cured at
temperatures above 325° F with minor formulation adjustments. Typical processes use progressively increased
temperatures to facilitate a smooth drying transition thus permitting best film formation
and uniformity. Exceptionally rapid drying is
possible, but is dependent on the type of heat source and air circulation used.
